Home Remedies For Vaginal Odor

Many women find that from time to time, they suffer from an unpleasant smell from their vaginal area. This is an extremely common problem and you need not be alarmed as it can be easily resolved, no matter what the extent. There are several simple home remedies for vaginal odor which you can try right away. These could be enough to resolve the problem.

One common cause of vaginal odor is overwashing. This is rather ironic as at the first sign of an unpleasant smell-what would we do? Try to wash it away! This can upset the delicate balance of the natural flora within the vagina triggering the growth of harmful bacteria which causes an unpleasant fishy smell. The problem can be even worse if you use highly scented products. Therefore, wash the vaginal area no more than twice a day and use only unperfumed soap.

Another cause of bad vaginal odor can be having sexual intercourse without a condom. Although not normally a problem, sometimes the semen of a new partner can cause an imbalance as semen is slightly alkaline and the vaginal is naturally mildly acidic.
