Despite all the hype about quick weight loss, the real goal is not only to lose fat, but also to maintain that body fat loss. Getting the weight off and keeping it off are two different things. That’s why the quick fix approach does not work.

What you want to do is develop a healthy lifestyle that supports your physical well-being, including maintaining the optimum weight. Easier said than done? Yes, but still not impossible. By taking one step at a time you will keep making progress.

An excellent place to start is with breakfast, right where your day starts. Make sure you eat breakfast and that it is a healthy one. If you are not in the habit of eating breakfast, write down some things you could eat that would get you off to a good start. Keep those foods on hand, and keep the written list around for those mornings when you just can’t think of anything to eat.

After you get breakfast ironed out, consider the rest of the day. Do you eat three meals and snacks? For most of us, the time between lunch and dinner can be too long to go without food. Don’t believe that you have to go hungry in order to lose weight.

Getting too hungry before dinner, or at any other time, can lead to poor food choices. To make the matter worse, the accompanying low blood sugar condition tends to cause unclear thinking. These two factors combine to make stopping for fast food or grabbing whatever is handy to be a likely replacement for a healthy and much needed meal.

Once you have your eating somewhat scheduled and regular, it will be easier to focus on the specifics of what you want to eat. Gaining an understanding of what your body needs and learning to manage it will pay off over the long-term and help you maintain body fat loss.
