Hair Cutting Tips – How to Cut Your Own Hair

August 28th, 2010 admin No comments

Are you tired of paying to much just to get an haircut, that is at best ok? Then perhaps now is the time to learn how to cut your own hair, so let’s begin with a few very simply hair cutting tips. When you apply these simple techniques. You will very quickly begin to learn how to cut hair. I still recommend visiting your stylist if the cut becomes uneven or when it comes to coloring or hi-lighting.

The easiest way to cut hair is to first wet it. That way it is much easier to handle and cut, so start by shampooing and conditioned your hair.

Once the hair is shampooed and conditioned, brush or comb the hair straight down with your desired part. Working now in small sections will result in having an even cut. Always start from one side. Then cutting from that one side to the other. Be sure to always double check and making sure the cuts are even. Then just repeat, cutting small sections of hair at a time. For best control hold the hair in between your index and middle finger.

When dealing with curly hair, you will need to make sure that you start with dry hair before cutting. Reason being is if you cut curly hair while its wet. the hair will spring back much shorter. Which can result in having too short of a hair cut. Curly hair almost always spring back much shorter. This is because the more you cut off the less weight the hair has to pull the curl down. You will start to get a really good idea how much the hair will spring back once it dries. Read more…

A Time Out For My Make-Up

August 22nd, 2010 admin No comments

I recently learned allot more about cosmetics, since having started using and selling Mary Kay Skin Care. As a Professional Organizer I see that this information would not only help to clear your clutter, yet may also help serve to clear up someone’s complexion. To be honest, I have been pretty bad myself in the past about my cosmetics, holding on way too long, yet recently I came to a breaking point as I neared my 40th birthday. I decided I needed to start taking better care of my skin. Lines and dryness were starting to become and issue and as a woman I want to stay looking my best as long as I breath.

When I decided to finally chip in for new cosmetics I went with a trusted line, yet before I took the plunge, I took a real close look at what I was using. I took out everything I owned and I looked at how long I had something, whether or not I used it, if it was damaged or whether or not I even liked it anymore. If it didn’t make the cut, it was out.

Boy, I’ll tell you, there wasn’t much left! I tossed 70% of everything I had. So, off to my consultant I went and before long had a fresh look and fresh product to enjoy. A few days later I met up with a long time friend and to my surprise she said I looked “Better than ever!” That made me even happier. No regrets here, that’s for sure.

Today I offer a few tips for you when it comes to organizing your cosmetics so you can make sure that whatever product you use, it’s fresh.

First, the organizing process:

1. Sort all your cosmetics into various categories such as creams, foundations, eyes, lips and nails.

2. Go through each one carefully and toss out anything that you; hate, can’t remember when you bought it, has expired, is dried out, is covered in dust or smells funny.

3. Decide where your keepers will go.

4. Containerize each category to set limits on future purchases and to ensure you will always have a “Place for everything.”

5. Label your containers wherever possible.

6. Keep a copy of the Shelf life List in with your cosmetics so you can keep on top of future expired products. Read more…

How to Get Long Eyelashes Naturally Without Eyelash Transplant Surgery

July 25th, 2010 admin No comments

Numerous different brands of eyelash conditioners are available over the counter for growing long and full eyelashes. These products were discovered as a surprising side effect of a common drug used to treat glaucoma in the eye. Glaucoma patients using this prescription eye drop treatment started to notice that their eyelashes were growing longer and longer like weeds. Cosmetics companies quickly jumped on this accidental discovery and started to include this drug as an ingredient in eyelash growth conditioner formulas.

The active ingredient responsible for causing eye lashes to grow longer and faster is Bimatoprost or sometimes Latanoprost. Sometimes analogs of these drugs are used as the secret ingredient in eyelash conditioner formulas. These prostaglandins and prostaglandin analogs are safe to use and have relatively few side effects as long as they are used correctly according to the eyelash growth serum’s instructions.

The eyelash growth product should be applied either in the morning or in the evening to clean eyelids. The applicator used in these products is usually a brush much like an eyeliner brush but sometimes different brands will use mascara wands. This is an ineffective way to apply the eyelash growth treatment. You want the eyelash growth gel to be applied to your eyelids as close as possible to the root of your lash hairs where the hair grows out of the hair follicle. This is because the lash growth gel needs to get to your hair follicle to work. Applying the lash accelerator to your actual eyelashes will not help them grow since your eye lashes like the rest of the hairs on your body are made up of cells that are already dead. Read more…
